The three main elements of area urban transformation are:
realization of the new seat, realization of more buildings on the area (houses, offices, shops, etc.), and the creation of public pedestrian areas, green areas and road networks.
The requalification of the area, which includes via Lunigiana, Rossano stream, the railway station and the "Guidotti" area, aims at strengthening both the identity of the area with the creation of a new social meeting pole, and at solving the various road junctions between Lunigiana, Fontevivo and del Cappelletto streets.
In the operating urban project, in short, are scheduled: • the ATC new seat (offices, bus depot, workshops, warehouses, etc.) is located in the area towards the railway station, until now occupied by the former sports ground and by the former nomadic area; in this way the activities with the major impact, linked to vehicle movement and maintenance, are located in the less urban part of the area and have considerable practical advantages such as width and regularity of new squares, accessibility separated from urban road networks; • along the perimeter of the so specified ATC area, a continuous line of buildings constitutes the physical and functional division both of volumes and of the two different functions (ATC and urban function); so there are no "walls" to divide, but there are double-face buildings, "business buildings" towards ATC and "urban buildings" towards the city; • in this way the most precious part of the area is let free, the one overlooking via Lunigiana, where the centre of urban functions pursued in the project is located, formed by a totally pedestrian square of over 1500 square meters, surrounded on three sides by four-floor buildings (houses, offices, shops); • the project is completed by the creation of a green area next to Rossano stream, with its environmental and water requalification, a network of urban routes among the buildings surrounding the square and a new commercial building next to the railways subway in via Fontevivo, the creation of the new museum of ATC transports and of underground parking structures below the new square, new networks for services related to building interventions and realization of two new main roads scheduled by the Municipal Urban Plan on the edge of the intervention area.
